Apart from teaching 28 foreign languages, VERBA offers SLOVENE
courses intended specifically for foreign learners. Organised in small groups
of between 6 – 8 students make possible close student-teacher co-operation, thus
providing a very intensive and effective learning atmosphere. The courses are organised twice a week in two 90-minute modules in the afternoons
and in the evenings. The course lasts 64x45 minutes, which means 32 visits to
the City of VERBA at 10 Cankarjeva, Ljubljana. Suitable for absolute beginners
an well as students with intermediate or advanced knowledge, the courses are organised
in 4 levels.
HOW TO APPLY AND WHAT TO EXPECT
Prior to enrollment or upon one of your visits to the City of VERBA, you will
be asked to take a placement test to determine the level of your Slovene. The
tests encompasses a written and spoken part and is absolutely cost-free and carries
no commitment on your part. Courses of general Slovene are organised twice a year,
during the spring and fall semesters (spring: February – June, fall: October –
February). The courses aim to develop all language skills: speaking, listening
comprehension, reading and writing, and of course, you will spend some time learning
about Slovene grammar structures. The greatest emphasis, however, is put on enabling
our students to communicate in Slovene well. The course concludes with a written
and oral exam. Successful students are awarded VERBA diplomas.
INDIVIDUAL TUTORIALS
If you are interested in tailor-made Slovene courses,
VERBA offers individual tutorials of Slovene. There are several advantages to
this type of learning: the course in planned entirely in accordance with your
wishes in terms of the topics covered, intensity, number of lessons and the timetable.
Individual tutorials are not limited to the two afore-mentioned semesters, but
are available all year round, even during the summer holidays.
If you are interested in this type of learning, call VERBA at least a week before
you would like to begin with the course. VERBA will organise a free informative
meeting with your teacher, during which you will be able to agree on all the relevant
topics from the course intensity and scope to the timetables.
